Bev Harris Parts Company with Us Posted on Friday, July 23 @ 17:57:51 CDT by David Site News I have been trying since March to keep private a dispute between Bev and myself, in order not to damage our efforts to stop electronic voting machines from undermining our democracy. Unfortunately, Bev has made a point of making her displeasure as public as possible with considerable damage being done to me and my company, Plan Nine Publishing. I had hoped that once she formed her foundation, I would be able to negotiate some kind of agreement to simply go our own way, but the filing of the 'qui tam' law suit in California changes that. This suit was filed secretly by Bev Harris and Jim March in November of 2003. I was unaware of the action and would have opposed it vigorously had I known. (You can read about the suit here) If Bev is successful, she will make a great deal of money. It will also play into the hands of our critics who have claimed that Bev is in this for the money. To address this very concern back in Sepetember of 2003, I made the decision to offer Bev's book in PDF format for free. As any publisher can tell you, giving away a book free doesn't help your sales and profit margin. To me, though, this has NEVER been about profit, it has been about the principle of accurate and honest elections. I wish Bev well in her suit and future activities. The BBV book will remain available in PDF format and the remaining copies I have will be sold slightly below cost. Those of you wishing a hard copy version of the book can get one via Bev's web site, blackboxvoting.org. This web site will continue to chronicle the struggle against BBV and I will be adding activist links to other anti-BBV groups. Obviously, we don't speak for her, she doesn't speak for us. It is important for folks to understand that this disagreement between Bev and myself in no way invalidates the facts we have uncovered. Whatever our dispute, the fact that these machines cannot be trusted to count spam, never mind our votes has not changed. Many thanks to the folks who have helped and supported me for the last 18 months. David Allen
